I, Jim Hyvarinen, am building this website to inform and entertain fellow golfers around the internet.
I have been playing golf for about 30 years. My college roommate got me hooked by inviting me to the driving range to see if I would like to join him on the course (due to the fact that his current playing partner was going to graduate.) I went and had a fun time just seeing how far I could hit those red striped balls. He bought me my first set of clubs for Christmas (a set of Northwestern blades that cost about $90). That set consisted of: a driver, a three wood, irons 3, 5, 7, 9, pw and a putter. The first round we played together got me really hooked. Even though I think that I shot around 135 for 18 holes, I had those one or two shots in the round that we all know keeps us coming back. Since that first season of golf, in which I don’t think that I broke 120, I have enjoyed the ups and downs of playing this wonderful game. I have read many books and articles about improving my swing and scoring better. And I continue to try to improve my game and have fun doing it.
